Mike was delighted to participate in the official opening of the redeveloped Cheong Park Pavilion in Croydon South on Saturday 3 August along with representatives of the Croydon South Football Club and the Croydon South Cricket Club whose home ground this is.

The $310,000 redevelopment was made possible by $250,000 of Federal Labor funding, and $90,000 from Maroondah City Council. Mayor, Cr Norah Lamont and the presidents of the two Clubs also particiapted in the opening (pictured above).

The works have almost doubled the social area and have involved major improvements to the toilet facilities and to disability access to the facility which means that people who use a wheelchair or mobility device can now access the pavilion with greater ease.

The clubs can now utilise their own larger facility to an even greater extent by hosting club events such as fundraising and presentation nights instead of going to other venues. The pavilion in Cheong Park will also now be available for community groups to make use of the space on weekdays.
