Volunteers in community organisations across Deakin will share in nearly $50,000 in grants to support the vital work they do for others. The Volunteer Grant Program provides between $1,000 and $5,000 for equipment purchases, for volunteer training and to pay for petrol for volunteer drivers.

Fifteen community organisations undertaking a wide range of activities have received funding under this year’s program to purchase a diverse range of equipment such as BBQs, a shed, a defibrillator and IT items to support their activities and their volunteers.

• Heathmont East Primary School Parents Association – $2,345
• Heathmont Inter Church Help – $1,652.34
• Junior Chamber International Eastern – $3,020
• Lions Club of South Vermont – $4,975
• Marlborough Primary School Parents Association – $4,339
• Ringwood Men’s Shed – $3,784
• Lions Club of Vermont – $2,545
• U3A Nunawading – $2,350
