Construction work has commenced this week on the Aquanation complex in Ringwood which will house world class community and elite swimming and diving facilities. Mike visited the site with Minister for Regional Development, Sharon Bird MP.

The Rudd Labor Government have contributed $10 million towards Aquanation under the Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF) and it will become the new Victorian State Diving Centre and could become the training ground for Australia’s future diving champions as well as providing for the aquatic needs of the Deakin community.

Federal Labor is pleased to have partnered the Victorian State Government, Maroondah City Council, Connect East and Ringwood Diving Club to make Aquanation a reality.

RDAF funding is contributing to the construction of a ten lane FINA standard swimming and diving pool; diving training, rehabilitation and learn to swim facilities, a gym, café, offices and car parking.

Aquanation is a $48 million aquatic and leisure centre which will have a diverse range of benefits for the local community of Deakin and the wider region.
